YESSSS! Today was my first run in almost two weeks (actually, it was the even first bit of physical activity in two weeks). I ran easy and felt really good! I feel like I am just picking up where I left off a little while ago. Time to ascend to volume and start getting some solid mileage under my belt. Man, these breaks feel soooo good. I feel like I have an all new excitement/hunger to run, and am anxious to really work hard!!!

I ran before work this morning in the snow...pretty cold.

Easy. Cold. I asked Wetmore what my mileage should be over the winter and he said 75-80/week. He said that being as "youthful" as I am, there is no need to increase mileage too quickly. Over cross, my la.rgest mileage week was 73ish and I was wiped. I never felt like that mileage was too little (in fact I thought it was a bit much at times). I think there is too much emphasis placed on numbers (such as mileage). Some runners can rip it up on 85 a week, while others need 130 (McD does  130/week in singles (even 115 the week of nationals)). That being said, I plan on pushing myself hard. Whatever mileage that takes me to is where I will stay.

Easy run on 4th street. It is snowy so running routes are limited.

We ran 4th street again today. Although we have run this route almost every day this week, I don't really feel too sick of it. I guess thats good.

Today was an easy 8.5 up 4th street. It is supposed to snow again tonight, so tommorrows run may be an adventure.

Today was a good run, a bit better than the days past (although it was still snowing). Felt good!

Today was an easy run out at Coot Lake. There was a lot of snow on the ground so we stuck to main roads for the majority of our run. Pace was nothing special, probably around 6:30's. This next week I am targeting the 65-70 range, so I'll see how that goes.

Ever since finals started, the regular practice crowd has been dissipating. There were not too many people at practice today, so the stretching circle was definitely lacking. I ran with Tebo (Matt) for most of the run today, mainly because we both started to pick it up a bit. That kid is way cool, not to mention an awesome runner. I did four strides at the end.

I just finished finals! Yes! That almost feels as good as finishing a race, but not quite :) Haha I was a bit sore from my strides yesterday. I guess thats the first speed intervals I have done in nearly a month, so I guess it is to be expected. I have an AT run on Friday, so I will see how that goes. I feel like I haven't lost any fitness on my break, just some sharpness.

I ran with my coach, Clint Wells, and a couple of other runners from BRC today. We went about 10.5 around Boulder reservoir. I felt pretty good, and at the end I picked it up a bit with Clint. It felt good to get moving a bit.

This was the first workout I have done this season, and it felt surprisingly easy. I did a five mile AT run on the Highline canal. Unfortunately, the trail was a mix of slush, ice and mud. I ran 27:10, which was good considering the conditions. I would estimate these factors slowed me at least five to ten seconds/mile. Luckily I managed to fend off any big falls, but I came pretty close. Knowing this I am happy. I would say that this was worth around 26:30 in dry conditions, showing that this is the best shape I have ever bagan a season in. Additionally, I felt calm and realxed the whole time, never over exerting myself. I used to push AT runs a bit harder than true threshold pace, but not today. I felt smooth and relaxed the whole time. Next week I will do the same workout, so hopefully some of the mud and slush will subside. I love these workouts. They really build your aerobic base; an area that I still feel very weak in.

Awesome run today at Daniels Park! It was cold, and my throat hurt a bit, but besides that I felt really good. This is the longest run I have done in a while, and it reminded me of how long they drag out. Fun fun!

I felt a lot better today and got a good run in. It snowed a lot yesterday, so it was very hard to find some drier pavement. I did some 200 meter strides at the end.

Today was a threshold run. I was contemplating doing this on the treadmill since it was 15 degrees out and snowy. I managed to find a loop (about 800 meters in length (actually 0.43 miles)) that seemed clear enough to run on. I warmed up for three miles then got going. I ran 26:44 for the whole run, and it felt pretty good. Similar to last week, I felt like the snow/ice definitely slowed me down (15 degrees did not help either :)). I think that had there been no ice and moderate temps. I would have ran 26:15ish. I did four 200 meter strides at the end and cooled down. Good workout!
