Today was really easy. Our team put on the annual "CU Kickoff 5k", and our whole team helped out. We ran with some of the racers and helped cheer them on. It was a fun time. Today was a good day of rest!

Today was 14x400 meters on a grassy surface. I was assigned the "big boy" group (fastest runners on the team (I hope to keep rolling with this group!)) today, which was cool. Our assigned pace was 74's, but we hit a bit under pace for the first sixor seven. Although this is not too fast, the deep grass made it harder. I felt like I could have done a few more, though. I definitely feel like I am starting to come back after my injury. I still only have five or six weeks of training under my belt, but I can feel it "building" up. Good day!

I ran 12.5 today out to Eldorado Springs and back through Marshall Road. My pacing was nothing too fast seeing as I was sore from some fair workouts the last few days. Tommorrow will be very easy.

Today was an easy run around Mt. Sanitas. I did four strides at the end, then got a massage. My legs did feel a bit heavy, and tommorrow morning we have a big workout.

Today was 3x3k repeats at 9:36 pace. I warmed up, and my knee felt a bit sore (similar to my injury last track season). I figured that I would give the workout an attempt, and if it hurt then I would stop. It ended up being fine, and my splits were as follows: 9:36, 9:34, 9:30. This was not too hard, but the overall workout was long. I iced afterwards, too.

I worked all day at BRC, and felt fairly tired. I tried running afterwards, but my knee was sore, so I opted against it. I tried to go swim, but I forgot my goggles, then the lock I rented (for my locker), broke and I couldn't get in. I ended up walking clear around the rec center in my small little swimsuit to get everything fixed. All that and no real workout...I guess thats just the way it was meant to be today :)

Hour and a half of aquajogging. My knee was sore, so I didn't want to push it and run.

Today I ran seven miles, then swam for 30mins. This felt pretty good, and although I didn't run yesterday, I still felt tired. I guess aquajogging takes more out of you than I previously thought.

Today was 12x500 at foothills community park. Our assigned pace was 93 secs per inteval with 200 meters rest. This was fairly hard since the grass was long and some spots were marshy and wet. We hit all the splits on time, and my knee felt ok.

Today was a middle distance run in south Boulder. I ran in the morning since I had class in the afternoon. After class I swam for 1/2 hour. My knee feels fair. It is not bad, but could be a bit better. Running does not seem to make it hurt much worse, though. Who knows?

Today was an OYO day, so I ran really easy in south Boulder. I swam later in the day, too (30mins). Tommorrow will be a beast workout...I'm ready! Apparently there is a meet in Iowa next weekend before the Rocky Mtn. Shootout, and I am slotted to travel. I think it is a fairly low key meet, though, so I'm not stressing it. Oh...I was looking at my mileage this week & realized it would be pretty low since I didn't run on Sunday (long run). I haven't been counting any of my pool work (even the 1 1/2 hrs. of aquajogging on Sunday). My week may not look like much, but I feel that I am still getting some good work in.

Today was a big workout, consisting of 1,500 meter repeats. I was assigned the top group, too (only five runners in this group!). Our assigned pace was 4:30 per repeat (4:48ish per mile), with 1:30 rest between intervals. It was raining all morning, so I was drenched from the start. We hit 4:32 for the first repeat, then hit 4:34 (a bit slow), then chugged along for the last three and hit pretty close to our assigned time (plus or minus a second or two). The last repeat was hard, but all the rest felt very manageable. This was a great workout! Money money money in the bank!

oh...update to my bio on the CU website

Alright, sooo coach has now decided that I am ready for 18-20 milers on Sundays. We went to The Grange today, and I ended up getting lost haha. I ended up running for 1:50, then stopped and waited for coaches van to come and get me. Everything worked out, although the run did seem long.

I felt my knee today, so coach told me to aquajog. I don't really mind aquajogging, so this was not too bad. I also swam for 30mins (freestyle) and did the elliptical for 30mins. Although I didn't run, I put in a good amount of aerobic work today!

Today was a workout consisting of short repeats. Seeing as I felt my knee yesterday, I told coach I was going to do my workout in the pool just to be safe. I did 15 mins warmup, then 10 x (2:30 on (really hard effort), 2:00 off), then 15 mins cooldown. This was really hard. I sink in the pool, so I can getting a good workout was not too difficult. Tommorrow I will run.

I ran with my old coach today in South Boulder (we did the Eldorado Springs loop). Pacing was not too fast, in the neighborhood of 6:40's. Today felt great and my knee felt fine.

Practice was OYO today, so I did a loop around my apartment ant through the Buff Ranch. This weekend our team is going to Iowa to check out the course we will be running come conference. We will just replace Fridays AT with an AT on that course.

Today was an easy "shakeout" on the ISU XC course. The course is really cool. It weaves through dense forest, almost like a maze of sorts. Tommorrow, I am assigned 5:10-5:15's for the 8k. It shouldn't be too hard.

Alright, today was a workout on the ISU course. I had some trouble, though. Apparently the combination of weather (hot & humid), and my lack of hydration yesterday led to "heat exhaustion/stroke" today. I did not eat or drink anything for a veeery long period yesterday (8ish hrs.) due to traveling. This was a bad mistake on my part. I started with a mile at 5:06, then a mile at 5:10, then it was as if I hit a brick wall. It felt similar to the first time I tried out for the CU team, and had to go to the hospital. I couldn't really see, and I was stumbling back and forth across the course boundary. Luckily, coach Wetmore saw this and pulled me out. For a good hour, I was pretty dazed, just sitting around. Luckily, Zack (one of our trainers), grabbed me so I didn't just fall over and lie there. The trainers said that the combination of dehydration with hot and humid weather was responsible. I seem to learn everything the hard way...well I know that I will never go that long without hydrating the day before. This was a dumb move on my part. Coach Wetmore told me about all the problems Brent Vaughn experienced with this sort of thing, and how they were very careful when dealing with heat. It didn't really feel that hot, but I guess it all has to do with your bodies core temperature. Anyhoo, I have learned my lesson. Never again!!!

Today was a long run, but I stil felt spent from yesterday. I ran really easy, and did not push it at all. This may take a few days to recover from. Aaah! How do I always do these types of things???

Today was a small workout on the Buff Ranch. I ran a three mile warmup, then ran 6 x 2:30 on the course. Coach and I agreed that if I had any symptoms of last Saturday, I would stop. Luckily, everything felt ok, although I feel like I have lost my zip. I am sure it will come back as long as I don't push it too hard.

Today was a workout at 6:30 am, but coach (being in a gracious mood) didn't give us one of the usual Friday doses of pain. We did 14x500 meter repeats in 1:32. They felt really easy, almost too slow. Mainly, I am happy to see that my body is feeling good after last weeks endeavor. Tommorrow will be easy.

Today was sixteen miles at Draconia. I started out fairly slow (6:45's), then just cruised until the finish. I was very surprised at how good I felt today. It must have been the ice cream last night! No joke, that stuff seems to really help me run well!

Today may just have been one of my best workouts ever! I was assigned the big boy group again :), consisting of 5x1500 meters in 4:27 (4:44ish mile pace), with 500 meters of rest (usually 2:00 mins). We did the workout on the football practice fields at 6:30 am, so it was nice and cool - no worrying about heat! The first one hurt, mainly since it was a "shock" to hit that pace for a sustained time, but after this, I just got in a groove and cruised. The fastest I hit was 4:26, while the slowest I hit was 4:29. As far as "hurt" is concerned, it felt the exact same as our last 1500 workout (where I did 4:34's to 4:35's on average), so I am making some improvements! Most importantly, I am pleased to be feeling well after last week. This weekend we have a race, so I am going to rest up for the next three days. Feelin' good!
